Teaching Online with ESL Library (Webinars)

March 23, 2020

We will be regularly hosting free webinars to help you teach online.

Hello, Teachers. Hello, Admins.

We know that for so many of you, your schools have suddenly closed. Many of you are now moving your programs online. For those who are only familiar with our printable content and have not used our digital tools before, we are holding a series of free webinars to help you get started.

If you did not hear our previous announcement, we have temporarily upgraded all our Standard plan users to have full access to the digital tools from the Plus plan. This means you can now broadcast interactive tasks on screen-sharing platforms such as Google Hangouts, and you can assign digital homework tasks to all of your students as well.

We want to help you make the best of these tools.

How to Register

Visit our registration page here. Select a date and time, and then enter your email address to reserve a spot. We are accepting 100 attendees per session.

What to Do If All the Sessions Are Full

If all the sessions are full or you are not able to attend the times that we have posted, you will be able to watch a recording of the sessions on our blog. You can also reach out to us to request a private webinar. We are able to do private webinars (for free) provided there are more than 10 teachers in attendance and a convenient time can be agreed upon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for all you're doing as we deal with this crisis. I am still learning the ropes but you're helping my learners keep practicing their English.

How do I give students feedback?

We are currently working on a feedback feature for our open-ended question task type. It should be ready very soon! After that we'll work on adding a feedback feature for some of the other task types. Until this is ready, you would need to text or email your students with any feedback you have, though they will see their own results on their Student Dashboard.

I teach adult ESL PreLit and I’m not tech savvy.
Where do I begin? I’d like to send my students some
Thing to keep them interested in the basic lessons we had covered earlier in class ie family, time, filling out a form, dates in letters and numbers etc.

Hi Mary. To start, you need to create a class and get your students set up. Here is a video demo on How to Create Classes and Invite Students: https://help.ellii.com/article/191-video-how-to-create-classes-and-invite-students

After that, you'll need to find content to send your students. Look for the digital icon. Here is a Help Doc on how to assign digital tasks: https://help.ellii.com/article/122-how-to-assign-digital-homework.

We hope this helps you get started! Best of luck!

I have already registered and watched the video. Why is it not giving me the digital access icon only the printable?

Some of our materials are only available as PDFs. We have 800+ lessons on our digital platform, and we add more each day.

Dear ESL Library and ESL Library Users,

I've been wondering if it is possible to comment on Learners' work directly here. It seems that as of now that feature is unavailable, but I might be mistaken.

Thank you for your answers,
Milka Stupar

Thank you for upgrading the standard to full digital use. I have a week to learn how to do this so I can add it to my digital lesson plans required by my school. I appreciate this site for my beginning ESL students.

Thanks, Althea! Best of luck. Let us know if you have any questions!

Hi there, I notice that I show double versions of my students. So it appears in one version that he/she's done a task but in the other version (same name, same username) hasn't completed anything. It makes for double everything on the screen. Any way to handle this? Do you know what it is happening? I'm new to this. Thanks so much.

Hello! So that happens when you invite a student and your student requests to join a class and you both accept each other. We are working on adding validation so you can't do that anymore. For now our devs are going to go into your account and clean it up. Sorry about that!
