How to Write a Compound Sentence

In this lesson, students learn about the different types of conjunctions (coordinating, correlative, and subordinating) and how they’re used to join sentence elements. They also learn how to punctuate sentences with conjunctions. 

This lesson can easily be divided into three parts (to cover one type of conjunction at a time) or completed all at once for a comparison of conjunction types.

In this lesson, students read three stories that use connectors in context. They answer comprehension questions and practice completing sentences using connectors.

Connector Stories

In this lesson, students learn how to form tag questions based on positive and negative verbs with and without auxiliaries. They also practice rising and falling intonation as they ask and answer tag questions in various written and spoken tasks.

Tag Questions

Students review language and useful expressions for reporting and inquiring about missing items. They practice forming questions with the present perfect (Have you seen...?) and review tag questions (You haven’t seen..., have you?).
