In this lesson, students read about the historic rally called the Women’s March on Washington that took place the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration as US president. Students learn and practice new vocabulary and discuss whether or not the event was inclusive and effective.

In this lesson, students read about a student-led anti-gun violence rally called “March for Our Lives” that took place on March 24, 2018. They learn and review new vocabulary and discuss opinions about youth activism and gun reform.

In this lesson, students read about George Floyd, a Black man who was killed by police during an arrest in Minneapolis on Memorial Day (2020). Students learn and review new vocabulary and discuss opinions about protests, racial discrimination, and police reform. They also do a small group research task.
