In this lesson, students learn to reproduce the /ʌ/ sound (as in "but"). They practice writing and producing the sound through various tasks and compare /ʌ/ and /u/ (e.g., but/boot). Includes a pronunciation diagram and audio.

In this lesson, students learn how to write a basic stand-alone paragraph. They learn about hooks, topic sentences, supporting sentences, transition words, and concluding sentences. Students write a paragraph about their "word of the year." This is an ideal lesson to use at the beginning of a new year, term, or season.
