Identifying the Theme

In this lesson, students will learn how to identify the theme of a piece of writing. They will answer questions about other literary elements to determine the theme. This lesson includes comprehension questions, vocabulary practice, and an assessment.

This lesson uses fables as a source to practice finding the theme. The fable called "Old Gwilym" is about a man who spends his money at a pub. Teacher discretion is advised.
